Datchworth Tennis Club - May 2016

15 free bingo no deposit is here – or is it? Wimbledon starts at the end of June, a number of our members have been successful in getting tickets.

Our own season is well underway; the Datchworth Summer League and Club matches are all in progress. In the Datchworth League last year all teams gained promotion so can expect some tough games. The first team, up in Division 3B, is now placed midway in their new division. Our second team, in Division 5B is holding it’s own, and is lying in second place. The third team in Division 7A is playing well, some hard tennis. I was fortunate to watch part of their game against  Welwyn. All games have three players and three games are played;  the lady plays with the first man; then with the second man; and the final match is a Men’s Doubles. Maggie and Steve Allan and Calum O’Connor did us proud. They won 2 games to 1.  The scores being in the first mixed doubles 6 – 7; in the second 7 – 6; and the Mens Doubles 7 – 6, the Mens Doubles 7 – 6.  As the scores tell a very exciting match. Full details of up-to-date division tables can be found on the very good web site :- www.datchworth.net

The Club Tournaments have started – the finals to be played on a date in July yet to be confirmed.

We have groups running on a Tuesday and Thursday. There is also a ladies coaching group from 2 – 3pm on a Thursday. An opportunity arises to put new learnt skills into practice on the Social mornings. And of course on Sunday it is time for the Sunday Guys followed by match Players – so come down and see which suits you!

Saturday Family Tennis is seeing an increase in numbers as the weather improves and the sun appears – all ages are welcomed so do come along and join us, arrive to start at 9.30 and at 11.00 we make our way to the Club House for a social chat, a cuppa or squash and biscuits.

If you know anyone new to the village or anyone new to tennis – do tell them to come along and join us on our courts, they will be made welcomed.
